Increase in Student Registrations for Class 10 & 12 Board Exams

MUMBAI: The number of students taking the Class 10 and 12 board exams has risen significantly compared to last year. Class 10 registrations have increased by 19,000, while Class 12 has seen 17,000 more candidates than in 2024. The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams are scheduled to start on Tuesday, while the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams will commence on February 21 (please verify the date).

Increase in Student Registrations for SSC & HSC Exams in Mumbai Division

According to data from the divisional board, a total of 3,58,854 students from the Mumbai division have registered for the SSC (Class 10) examination this year. This includes 1,87,362 male candidates, 1,71,490 female candidates, and 2 transgender candidates. Last year, the numbers stood at 1,74,921 males and 1,66,263 females.

The HSC (Class 12) examination has also seen a rise in registrations, with 3,38,478 students set to appear, compared to 3,21,116 last year.

  • Arts stream: 45,415 candidates registered, up from 40,756 last year.
  • Commerce stream: 1,63,965 students registered, an increase of around 5,000 from last year.
  • Science stream: 1,25,240 candidates registered, compared to 1,17,566 in 2024.

Officials Welcome Rise in Board Exam Registrations

The increase in student registrations for board exams is viewed positively by education officials. A state education board official from the Mumbai division stated that exam planning and logistics are being adjusted to accommodate the growing number of students across Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts.
